Bolivia currently receives 6.25 Million Dollars for family planning assistance, for the year 2002. This is down from 6.4 Million Dollars in 2001.
Bolivia is a large country with many remote mountain areas. Many poor women in Bolivia die from complications during pregnancy. While Spanish is the official language of the government, many Andean tribes maintain their culture and their language, in the remote Andean mountains and rain forests.
There is a need for family planning supplies in remote areas. The amount spent on health care is about the world average for poor people in the world, $2.00 per year.
This author is starting to conceptualize a plan to distribute family planning supplies to remote areas by air drop. any suggestions along this line would be appreciated. Also, educational leaflets are being developed in cartoon form, so that Andean natives can learn to use the supplies, and women can learn to negotiate the use of the supplies with their partners. The aids rate in Bolivia is currenly considered to be at a low level.
